Our guest bedroom is Asian themed and with a low watt CFL bulb in it works great and gives off plenty of light. The paper shades with the bamboo imprint filter and mute the light an create a nice ambiance without being too dark - ideal for a bedroom nightstand. The construction, while not shoddy, is also not solid enough to risk placing the lamp in high traffic areas - I doubt the frame would survive a fall off of a hallway accent table, for example. I improved the stability significantly by simply gluing the top portion, which is left loose intentionally to make changing the bulb easier, into place permanently. You can still swap out the bulb via the bottom if you do this. A nifty and unique item that will lend a bit of authentic looking Asian style to your home. See all 6 customer reviews on Amazon.com
