I apologize for the sideways view: fit the camera better. As you can see, the lamp is very similar to the plasma-type globes that you see at the malls. This lamp will attract the light similarly when you touch it. Overall, it is pleasing to look at and does NOT get hot. One reviewer said the base is ugly.
